How to choose a rock drill
Author:
Choosing a rock drill requires comprehensive consideration of factors such as operating environment, rock hardness, construction scale, and duration. Different types of rock drills have significant differences in their applicable scenarios
Select by power type
Pneumatic rock drill: relying on compressed air drive, does not require electricity, suitable for remote areas without power supply (such as mountainous areas and tunnels), but with weak impact force, only suitable for medium hardness rocks.
Internal combustion rock drill: powered by gasoline/diesel engines, suitable for outdoor or electrically unstable areas, capable of efficiently breaking hard rocks (such as granite), but with high noise and emissions.
Electric rock drill: dependent on power supply, strong stability, suitable for urban and underground engineering, but requires stable power supply support.
Select based on rock hardness
Soft rock/medium hardness: Pneumatic or electric rock drills are sufficient to meet the requirements.
Hard rock: Internal combustion or hydraulic rock drills are preferred as they have stronger power and can handle high-intensity crushing operations.
Select based on construction scale
Small scale engineering: Pneumatic or handheld electric rock drills have small volume and flexible operation, suitable for narrow spaces.
Large scale engineering: Hydraulic or electric rock drills have higher efficiency and are suitable for long-term, high-intensity operations.
Precautions
Equipment parameters need to be adjusted according to the diameter and depth of the borehole.
Prioritize selecting low-noise and low emission equipment to meet environmental requirements.
Regular maintenance of equipment, such as replacing drill rods and calibrating clearances between moving parts, can reduce the risk of malfunctions.
